Welcome to our website. We wanted to tell you a little about our school and the things that are important to us at King's Stanley Junior school. This picture of four of our Year 6 children in London was taken on the day we had been invited to speak to MPs and Government officials about our Healthy School work. It is part of our School Vision that we will look after ourselves, keeping fit and healthy so that we can do our best in our learning. At school we have cookery and gardening lessons, and twice a week whole school fitness with an aerobics teacher. Not only do we think it is important to be healthy, we also think it is important to have fun. Our recent Ofsted Inspection graded both the extent to which learners adopt healthy lifestyles and how well the learners enjoy their education as "outstanding".

World Book Day 2008 was a really fun day. It began with a parade of all of the fantastic costumes followed by a presentation of book vouchers for the winner from each year group (pictured right).

The rest of the day the children were involved in a range of activities from creating their own characters to writing their own mini books

At Kings Stanley we have an emphasis on health and exercise. We enjoy our time in our outdoor space and join in with a number of physical activities throughout the week

At school we have many visitors so that we can learn about other faiths and cultures. We have close links to a school in Kenya called Kavuka and have raised money to improve their school buildings and provide water tanks to store rain water. We also have links to a Polish school and an Italian school. We write to the children there and the staff exchange visits.

One of our important visitors was Michael, the Bishop of Gloucester. He came to open our new library and he told us all about the garments he wears and the crook he carries. The new library is beautiful. It was built when we opened up the old roof space and created a mezzanine floor. It has stained glass windows and a beautiful boat-shaped roof.
