Welcome to Kings Stanley Junior School

Health4Schools

We were selected for the "health4schools" scheme and this has made a huge difference to us all.

Every Monday and Thursday at three o'clock the whole school turns out for fitness. Some children do aerobics, some circuit training and others jog round the field.

Not only are the children becoming fitter, the teachers are too.

We have also got some new play equipment for the lunchtimes to encourage the children to be more active.
The most important part of our "health4schools" is our allotment.

We have growing lessons on Wednesday and Friday afternoons.
Each class has a plot to cultivate and are growing different fruit and vegetables.

The strawberries and peas are already really coming on, along with the beans and garlic.
We are planning to bake our own garlic bread later in the term and make scones to go with the strawberries.
At school we have a great Kkitchen where our meals are cooked and where the children have cookery lessons on Wednesday and Friday afternoons.

The children have been trying out healthy menus. The pizzas, which they made using the new school bread maker, and the fruit shortbread have been the most popular so far.
